Planning approval at Angel Square

We are pleased to announce that planning approval for AHMM’s proposed development of Angel Square has been granted by the London Borough of Islington. The development seeks to be one of the most sustainable buildings to be developed in London by retaining 80% of the existing concrete frame, replacing the existing envelope with a modern, high-performance façade and utilising all-electric heating and cooling systems, along with grey water harvesting and solar PV panels. The scheme makes some much-needed improvements to the public realm around the site by providing a new public route linking Torrens Street with Islington High Street and creating a 9m wide pavement on the junction of City Road.

The building will provide 195,000 sqft of office space over eight storeys, including 10% of affordable workspace. The entrance lobby will be animated with a public café and roof terraces will capture scenic views over London.

Michael Foster-Smith, Director at Form Properties said “We are delighted to be part of the team to secure this consent for Tishman Speyer. From appointment of the consultant team to planning approval in a little over 12 months is a fantastic achievement and testament to great collaboration between the entire professional and client team.”

Work will now progress for the appointment of our delivery partners with construction due to commence in early 2023.
