Planning Success for Coastal Homes

Working in collaboration with Hedley Planning, Form Properties have received unanimous approval from the North Northumberland Planning Committee for the development of four unique family homes in the beautiful coastal village of Newton by the Sea.

The development will consist of three-bed and four-bed properties in an eclectic mix of local sandstone, black timber, slate and zinc, sympathetic to their local context. The design from the RIBA award winning Elliott Architects was highly commended by the statutory consultees as being “of first rate design in form, layout and materiality, displaying excellence in architectural design”.

These new homes will have excellent sustainability credentials, with energy consumption reduced through the use of local materials, highly insulated envelopes and the provision of efficient air source heat pumps. Biodiversity will be achieved through a ‘natural style’ planting to the gardens and mixed native hedgerows will divide the plots to offer further opportunities for enhancing the biodiversity within the development.

Michael Foster-Smith, Director of Form Properties, said “we have been working closely with the Northumberland County Council Planning team for nearly three years on this application and we thank them for the level of proactive engagement they have shown. We put a great deal of care and attention to detail in our planning application to create homes that we would love to live in so we’re pleased that the merits of this scheme have shone through and that the Planning Committee supported us with this unanimous approval.”
